    1930s Fashion-Inspired | Bethel Maine Photographers

After I did my 1940s fashion shoot, I was aching to do another one from that time period. It helped that I had two gowns from high school homecomings hanging in my closet that were perfect! I decided to do a 1930s shoot after watching Water for Elephants and drooling over Reese Witherspoon’s hair, makeup, and wardrobe.  Something about the smoky eyes mixed with finger curls, and just the right amount of skin exposure makes it hard for any other decade to match the glam.

For the shoot, I immediately thought of Alexa.  We had already done two shoots together, so I knew that she had the ability to pretty much read my mind when it came to posing each shot.  We’re a pretty good team, if I do say so myself.  It doesn’t hurt that she’s absolutely gorgeous and looks like she traveled here in a time machine from the 30s.

I have to give a big THANK YOU to Aaron Hayden for doing hair and makeup.  He volunteered, showed up at my apartment at 9 in the morning, and spent the next two hours transforming Alexa.  As soon as I said 1930s, he knew exactly what I wanted for hair and makeup and he did AMAZING.  (P.S.  He does weddings!)

I have to thank Joel, my awesome fiance, for tagging along with us all day, carrying my bags, and holding the reflector when I needed it.  I couldn’t ask for a better assistant.

Last, Jennifer Storer!  Thank you for pointing us towards this AMAZING location!  I appreciate it more than you know.

    And now, the photos…

I was so excited when I found these shoes.  Dorothy meets Cinderella!Hello, Bombshell.I adore the two above.Thank you, again, Alexa and Joel for putting in a 10-hour day with me!
